Alfred Matthew Yankovic was born on October
23, 1959 in Lynwood, California. He got the name ìWeird Alî Yankovic when he
joined the California Polytechnic State University campus radio station. He
learned about music when he was 7 years old. At age 7, he began playing the
accordion because he wanted to follow in the footsteps of polka star Frank
Yankovic. He was not related to him. Dr. Demento, Allan Sherman, Spike Jones,
Stan Freberg, Mark Mothersbaugh and Tom Lehrer were the major influences in his
life. Alís favorite band is The Beatles. Some of his more popular songs are
Amish Paradise, This Is The Life, UHF, Dare To Be Stupid, and Polkamon. I like
ìWeird Alî Yankovicís music because his songs are usually funny and are usually
takeoffs on other songs. My favorite song that ìWeird Alî Yankovic made is ìThe
Saga Begins.î ìThe Saga Beginsî is a song about Star Wars Episode I to the tune
of ìAmerican Pie.î ìWeird Alî Yankovic has influenced music because he has made
song parodies more popular in the music world.
